The quarter is coming close to an end, and all of my classes are getting pretty hectic with projects. I have projects in almost all of my classes that are wrapping up all of the content that we have gone over since the start of the year.
In my Entrepreneurship class we are creating a big presentation discussing our progress towards a business plan which should be pretty interesting. I also have a project involving quality assurance for one class, and another project that requires my group and I to write a software program that will be used for library management of books, etc. This should be a busy couple of weeks, but I think it’ll be cool to see all of the things that we’ve learned come together in these projects.

After enjoying a fabulous Halloween weekend, it is important to buckle down because believe it or not, school is almost over! Three weeks are left to finish up projects, take last tests and end school on a high note.
Last week I took my last test in Marketing 202 and ISE 432 before the final. While I’m relieved to have those out of the way I still have a ton of work to do. I still have a paper for marketing due and a group project in ISE. Both of these are very important since it is 15% of my grade in class. Even though I do not have a major project due in calculus, the final will be here before I know it and I want to be thoroughly prepared for it.
Physics is probably my hardest subject this quarter. We are given individual and group quizzes every week along with homework that sometimes can be pretty tough. I am going to start looking over equations now, so I will not be overwhelmed when it comes to test day. Overall, it is going to be a very busy three weeks for me. Hopefully everything goes well, wish me luck!

Junior, Computer Science
This quarter I was able to fit in a history class, just for fun. The course is titled "Shakespearean England," and it covers England from Richard II to Elizabeth I. It's great--in the middle of the day I can take a break from all of the math and computer science classes to hear about kings, burning people at the stake, royal intrigue, assassination plots, religious leaders, courtly love affairs, etc.
The professor assigns a lot of primary source readings, which to me are the most fascinating part of the course. We've read Henry VIII's love letters to Anne Boleyn, descriptions of royal families, vividly detailed first-hand accounts of battles, and sermons by leaders in the church (both pre- and post- Reformation). It's really interesting to get into the heads of those people living in the 15th and 16th centuries. Even though the class is a lot of reading, it's a good break from all of my math and CS-related courses and activities.

This week was week 5 of the quarter, which means that it was one of the midterm weeks at our university. I’ve had three midterms this week from Tuesday through Thursday. I’ve had Accounting, Business Law and Aviation exams. It was pretty intense, with all of the exams, but I believe my effort and time I put it for them paid off.
When I study for classes, I utilize Alden library. It’s a great 7 floor library with many computers and desks. It helps me to focus on studying rather than studying at home. Also at the Alden library, we can rent movies, CD’s and even magazines for free.
It was a brutal week but I’m glad that it’s finally over and now I can relax for few days and enjoy the weekend with friends.

OU offers a variety of recreation courses for students to take pass/fail for one credit hour a quarter. Courses vary from ultimate frisbee to swimming to bowling; broomball, basketball, jogging, and others are also available depending on the quarter.
This quarter I decided to take ice skating with my roommate. The class meets twice a week at the ice rink. Mostly we free skate and practice basic skills, but sometimes we play games like sharks and minnows or capture the flag. The course is a lot of fun and a nice change of pace from
my engineering classes. Also, I can now skate forwards and backwards without falling.

Senior, Industrial Technology
I am currently taking a course called Technology and Entrepreneurship. This course is all about taking a technology from the research stage, to an actual product and marketing a business around it. It is extremely interesting and a great opportunity. I would really like to start a business out of school, and this class gives me the tools necessary to reach this goal.
The class has been split into groups of about 5 or 6, and each member of the group brings a different background to the team. I am the engineering background for the group, and we also have a physics PhD student, several business and marketing members, and a video production major.
The course is taught by a young entrepreneur. I'm not completely sure, but he is probably about 30, and he already has two businesses that he has started. He took this same course through OSU, and he was able to start his businesses from this class. We are learning all about the different approaches and proven methods of taking a technology from an ideation phase to market.
I'm really excited to see where this course could take me.
